Use this result in Mira
Mira starts with the same calculation. With enough entries, it can adjust your calorie goal based on your weight trend.
How it’s calculated
- Resting energy uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation: 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) − 5 × age, then +5 for men or −161 for women.
- Maintenance multiplies it by your activity: 1.2 sedentary, 1.375 light, 1.55 moderate, 1.725 active, 1.9 very active.
- A kilogram of body weight is about 7,700 kcal, so 0.5 kg a week is roughly 550 kcal a day below maintenance.
- The calculation caps the pace at 1% of body weight a week and the deficit at 25%. The minimum is 1,500 kcal for men and 1,200 kcal for women. These are calculation limits, not personal medical advice.
Good to know
- Any formula is an estimate; real needs can differ by 10% or more. That’s why the app adjusts your goal from your actual weight trend.
- This calculator is for adults. For children, teens, pregnancy, breastfeeding or medical conditions, ask a doctor or dietitian.
